How-To: Edit and Duplicate Contract Templates πŸ“ƒ

If you need to change a contract template β€” for example, to add or remove a mandatory field or to add or remove legal text β€” this article explains how to edit a contract template in your project.

Note: Archiving a contract does not delete or destroy your previous contracts; it only hides the template so it doesn’t get used again.

Overview

Once you’ve logged into your account on app.mesuite.com you can click on SignME on the left side bar.

Editing an UNSIGNED Contract

1

Find and open the template

Locate the unsigned contract you want to edit, then click Manage > Edit to open the contract template editor.

2

Update template metadata and structure

On the edit contract template page, make changes to the template name or its structure as needed.

3

Edit content in Contract Builder

Click Continue to Contract Builder to edit the template content. In the Contract Builder you can:

  • Change legal language

  • Add or remove signer blocks

  • Change which signer fields are mandatory

4

Preview changes

When finished editing, click Next (bottom left) to preview the document. If everything looks correct, click Next again to choose customized settings for signers.

5

Finalize edits

When you’re done, click Update to finalize your edits.

Editing a SIGNED Contract

1

If a contract has already been signed, it cannot be modified. To change it, first duplicate the contract.

2

The duplicated template is created automatically and will have β€œCopy of …” prefixed to the name of the duplicated document.

3

Open the duplicated document and click Manage > Edit, then follow the steps in "Editing an UNSIGNED Contract" above. We recommend renaming the document so it’s clear which contract you will deploy.

Conclusion

That’s it! Once your contract has been edited or duplicated successfully, you can deploy the new contract using SignME.
